Marc Warner

MARC WARNER engages primarily in maritime litigation, including environmental claims. He focuses his practice on maritime tort actions, cargo damage actions, defense of Jones Act personal injury actions, commercial litigation and general representation of vessel owners, including marine collisions, fires, spill response/control/cleanup, and environmental and third party claims. In addition to representing the firm’s clients in cases before state and federal courts, Marc also manages cases with government agencies, including U.S. Customs, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

A director with LeGros, Buchanan & Paul, Marc joined the firm in 1979 following four years with the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Air Force. Since joining the firm, Marc has successfully defended vessel owners’ interests in matters involving carriage of goods, passengers alleging breach of contract, personal injury, detention, demurrage, and dispatch claims, collision and allision cases involving issues of improper lookout, errors in navigation, and other Rules of the Road issues, marine insurance issues, and actions involving vessel arrests and cargo seizures.

Marc grew up in Tacoma and graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. He attended law school at the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College (J.D., 1974), where he was Associate Editor of the Law Review. He is now tackling the challenging world of jazz piano.

Marc is a member of the Washington State Bar Association (1974), and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is also a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States.
